Benowa is an increasingly popular suburb that appeals greatly to professionals and their families. The suburb, which has is origins from an 1887 subdivision, is now home to 10,000 people. It is definitely a family-oriented suburb with those aged between five and 19 representing the largest population groups. More than 40 per cent workforce in the suburb say they are professionals (24.7%) or managers (16.4%).

Benowa’s quiet, laid-back personality and its proximity to entertainment hubs of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach are among its major drawcards.

The amount of green space in the suburb also adds to its appeal. The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, set alongside the Nerang River on 31 hectares, is an amazing place to relax and take the incredibly diverse plant life in the region. The Gardens are open all year, there is plenty of parking and entry is free. The Gardens border the ever-popular golf resort, Royal Pines.

Japanese developers MID (Matsushita Investment and Development Company) spared no expense developing The Royal Pines Gold Coast, which was completed in 1991 and has become a Gold Coast landmark. It now owned by the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria and until recently it was the host of both the Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Ladies Masters golf tournaments. As well as the 27-hole golf course, the resort offers visitors a selection of spas, bars and restaurants to choose from. Originally comprising 36-golf holes, the western side of Royal Pines was recently redesigned and developed by noted Gold Coast developer Sunland Group and this newer part of Benowa is in strong demand with buyers.

However, it is the canal estates in the Benowa Waters precinct where you will find some of the city’s most expensive and impressive homes. With majestic modern homes along the Nerang River and along the canals, this area of the Gold Coast is home to many of the region’s most successful business families. The area is particularly appealing to those in the medical profession because is proximity to the Pindara Private Hospital medical precinct. Pindara is the largest private hospital in the city, with 348 licensed beds, 17 operating theatres and a 24-hour emergency/ cardiac centre.
